Did you install a newer version of freeimage yourself?  Lucid has 3.10.0 (<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><a href="http://packages.ubuntu.com/hu/lucid/libfreeimage3">http://packages.ubuntu.com/hu/lucid/libfreeimage3</a>) and even Maverick only has 3.13 (<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><a href="http://packages.ubuntu.com/hu/maverick/libfreeimage3">http://packages.ubuntu.com/hu/maverick/libfreeimage3</a>).  If it&#39;s something others are likely to run into we should consider re-saving and re-releasing any of the tifs we use that are problematic.<div>

Saving the file in gimp seemed to resolve the crash. It also doesn&#39;t crash in 3.13. In 3.14 they upgraded the Tiff library, but it seems the bug is related to loading exif data from the file, there were a lot of changes in that section. I sent a comment to the freeimage developers. Let&#39;s see what they say. At least for now I have a work-around (I&#39;m just using the 3.13 library)<br>
