Is this error message from before or after you set ROS_HOSTNAME? The error message implies that ROS_HOSTNAME is not set, as it is using the 'robot' hostname instead. Can you try: export ROS_MASTER_URI=http://localhost:11311 export ROS_HOSTNAME=localhost roscore ... and see if you get the same error message? - Ken On Sat, Mar 20, 2010 at 11:31 PM, wwjjbb1977 wrote: > > I am  new  here. > I   install a  ros into  my computer (OS is fedora11) . >    When  i  run roscore ,i get this message . > > > ... logging to > /root/.ros/log/d2c97a1a-3563-11df-8e96-001bb9806e0a/roslaunch-robot-9093.log > > Unable to contact my own XML-RPC server, this is a highly unusual error and > should be reported immediately. > My URI is [http://robot:38228/] >   I > my compute's name  is "robot". > I have changed  the ROS_HOSTNAME=localhost > > thanks for anyone'help > > > -- > View this message in context: http://n3.nabble.com/roscore-problom-I-need-help-tp465070p465070.html > Sent from the ROS-Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Download Intel® Parallel Studio Eval > Try the new software tools for yourself.
