Hi, Thanks for the tip, using the full path is expected. However it's rare for users to directly call genmsg_oct directly. We usually use the build system to generate the required messages. Usually you add the cmake command rosbuild_genmsg() to your package which will cause the rosoct messages to be generated as well as the other ones for that package such as python and c++ when you call make or rosmake the package.
