Sorry for the quick reply, as mentioned in the ticket by Dejan, it works with ros_comm 1.6.2 but as I also tested now it neither works with ros_comm trunk nor with 1.6.5. So a natural fallback would be to try ros_comm 1.6.2 if this is possible for you. Quickly skipping through the diff of trunk vs. 1.6.2 nothing directly jumped at me as an obvious cause..
