Todd,
I expect that you have a network configuration problem. There is some help here http://www.ros.org/wiki/ROS/NetworkSetup can you try some of these checks? Also there might be informative warnings/errors in your log files saying if the nodes had problems at startup.

Hey, I'm trying to run some pretty simple code on an Erratic but I get the following ROSWTF error:
ERROR The following nodes should be connected but aren't:
* /stopper->/erratic_player (/cmd_vel)
* /stopper->/rosout (/rosout)
Any idea why? The stopper node shows up in RXGraph but isn't connected to ROSOUT.
