So...

I let update manager update a few more things and then tried installing ROS again, and now it works. I have no idea what might have been updated that solved the problem. Shouldn't a ROS installation be independent of this, since it looks at necessary dependencies and installs them?

Note that I tried both ros-cturtle-pr2all (which I would prefer) and also ros-cturtle-base as Ken suggested in an earlier thread about Maverick installation issues.

Is anyone else having problems on 10.10? I could use 10.04 if there will be problem with some packages for a while.
