I asked Radu how this might affect Planet PCL, and it seems he has no objections:

We do try to use isfinite instead of isnan, so from my perspective, this shouldn't affect PCL in any negative way.

If the convention becomes NaN, +Inf, -Inf, we'll make sure to support it in PCL 2.0 "natively".
