There is code for this already, and apparently it worked in the past, but now for some reason the package list is not making it to the final deb. This is likely a bug in bloom. I am looking into it.

would it be possible to automatically add the list of packages in a
stack that is being released to the .deb description? Just adding a
string like "Contains the following ROS packages: ..." should be enough.
The main reason would be that now it is possible to do:
apt-cache search PACKAGE
and the result should contain the released stacks that contain the
package.

It looks like it's currently working in some cases (std_msgs) but not all (apt-cache search amcl).
