I like ‘Lucky Loggerhead’, because I’m a beer drinker and it has a nice ring to it (Lucky Lager).

Besides, we could have a ‘Get Lucky’ motto (and apt-get install ros-lucky), and a turtle with a shamrock on it.

-1 to Lunar anything because that is too similar to the Eclipse version named Lunar.

Just my $.02

Matt

Subject: Re: [ros-users] ROS L-Turtle Naming Thread

Hi Tully, all,

A good name can make the difference...

I like the idea of the google form, since you can see all proposals in a glimpse.

The result of the poll does not have to be taken for granted, but it can indeed give you a trend, and minimize the +1s mails (you can aleays do it to reinforce a proposal)

Why to attempt to block it like that? Let it be man. it's already 15 votes !

I loved the sharktle with the laser, I think it can havr an added value be proposed to the next released of sharknado ;)

Best to all !
Carlos

Hi Stefan,

You might have a point, but I have to agree with Tully on this one:

... since we're focusing on brainstorming I'd suggest that we stick with the unstructured mailing list format.  People's comments and announcing new ideas are important to help inspire others creativity.

I know this might be a bit *noisy* to some people, but one can easily ignore this thread if not interested on it.

Best regards

Hi there,

We are very happy about all that the ROS community has achieved and we are also very excited every time we are close to a new release. However, the actual name of the release is (for me, please excuse me for that) not the most important topic. I therefore would like to know if it would be possible to execute this kind of discussions/voting on something else than the ros-users mailing list? Please consider this for next time.

Best regards

+1 lunar loggerhead, mainly because "lunar" is easy to type quickly!

Even quicker would be: Lava

Plus there is a Leopard tortoise, which would also be a good basis for a cool logo.

So, throwing in another suggestion: Lava Leopard
