I am looking to hire a computer scientist with a solid background in
robotics algorithms and hopefully some real experience - specifically with
ground vehicle robotics and/or computer vision (ideally both). This is a
good position for a good company, but probably one you have not heard of
before. The company is Applied Minds Inc. in Glendale California, and we
are a research and development company which has been in business since 2000
and which has a substantial robotics team. We are a world class institution
specializing in advanced technology development for both industry and
government.

The ideal applicant for this position would have:
   - a strong appetite for undertaking projects others would identify as
impossible
   - a Ph.D. in Computer Science or Robotics or Master's degree with
compelling experience
   - hands on experience with real robotics projects (DARPA vehicle
challenges, for example)
   - experience implementing algorithms from published literature with an
eye to performance
   - experience in at least C++ or Python, but preferably both
   - a US citizen (for the moment at least, some of our customers require
this...)

One last thought - maybe my personal editorialization on this position:
This is a no bones, balls out, serious, gung ho, no holds barred, mad
science, go big or go home kind of place. We work exceptionally hard here
and do and accomplish amazing things. It is not easy to get a job here.
Our interviews are tough, and working here is serious business. Having said
that, taking a job at Applied Minds means joining an absolutely amazing
group of people and working with and for some of the brightest people
around. If this sounds like the kind of professional life you want to have,
this is an opportunity to live that life.
