hi Sam,

The comment about the binary packages not being "optimal" refers to
the fact that they are bigger than necessary, because we're not yet
stripping out all the build artifacts and unneeded source files.  But
they are still the fastest (unless you have a slow internet
connection) and easiest way to install ROS.
