[ros-users] Elpha Camera+FPGA solution?

Hi there,

Has anyone tried/used the elphel camera system?
http://www3.elphel.com/
It is an open source software/hardware "smart" camera system that combines
the camera with an FPGA, and an embedded processor.

It looks like it would be very useful for robotics applications; however, it
is currently only available with a 5Mpix sensor with a ROLLING shutter.

It seems to me that if they (or someone else) developed a sensor-head with a
global shutter, (and integrated it with an IMU) it could be the ultimate
camera for robotics applications.

Does anyone have experience with it?
thanks,
-=Abe
