Looks like you're running stageros from the system installation of the
stage package.  How did you apply the patch?  You should check out the
appropriate development branch of stage (in this case,
https://code.ros.org/svn/ros-pkg/stacks/simulator_stage/branches/simulator_stage-1.2),
put that directory in your package path, apply the patch, rebuild, and
then try it.
