Hi Everyone,

We are planning to put a survey out to the ROS community to get feedback on
ROS usage.  Please fill in suggestions for questions to ask.
We're looking for ideas of what to ask.  We are going to keep the survey
short to get more responses, but please
brainstorm lost of good questions we can always save them for another
survey.  You can add your ideas at

Below is a seed set of questions.

ROS Survey Question *Brainstorming*:

   - What is your primary development distro?

   - When do you choose to upgrade?

   - What is your current primary rosdistro?

   - How many community maintained packages do you use? (not your own,
   including roscpp rospy etc)

   - What packages do you use from the ROS distribution?

   - What fraction of your codebase is compiled from source vs using
   precompiled binaries?  How many packages?

   - What robots do you use (both real and simulated)?

   - What simulators do you use?

   - What do you use ROS for (Academia/ Business / Fun)?

   - What is the foxus of your ROS usage (image processing, point-cloud
   processing, navigation, manipulation, reasoning, other)?

   - Which is your primary IDE?

   - What community media do you use (wiki, answers, ros-users, SIG)?

   - Most (dis-)liked ROS package?

   - How often do you use the wiki? Which parts of the wiki do you use?

   - Have you ever felt need for foreign language support (translation of
   wiki, community) ?

   - Other than ROS, do you also use robotics framework? If so what are

   - Do you want to / not want to keep track of how often certain packages
   are used?

   - What other tools would you like?

   - What platform would you like to see support for?
