I was able to reproduce your error on one of our macs. It looks like the fopen call on the hokuyo tty is hanging. I can however use minicom to issue commands to the laser.<br>

I have zero mac experience, so I'm not too sure where to go from here. Does anybody out there in the ROS community have an idea why an fopen call would hang when trying to open a tty? (By the way, open also hung.)<br>
