I am happy to report that rosmake under Groovy (Debian install) is
now much faster. A stack that used to take 149 seconds (2 minutes
29 seconds) to build now takes only 22 seconds which is 6x faster
than before.<br>

You sure you mean rosmake?<br>
That's just a wrapper for make, I don't see that ever getting that
much faster.<br>
At least in my case it's taking a time well comparable with make
itself.<br>
