The label "1.0" has been removed from the upcoming release in December simply because "ROS 2 1.0" isn't a really "nice" name. The release in December will be the first non-beta release and will get a name like any other ROS 1 distribution.

Future releases of ROS 2 will likely be made in a quicker cycle than ROS 1 distros - likely every 6 month.
