Gavin,

I tried parsing your urdf in cturlte
<http://www.ros.org/wiki/urdf/Tutorials>, and that works fine. As
Josh suggested, we'll need more information to help you debug this
problem. It would also make it easier if you attached the (large) urdf
file you are using.
