Two cheap webcams, as you're using now, is probably the best way to do
stereo inexpensively. If you were feeling ambitious, you might be able to
use the IR camera and RGB camera on the Kinect as a stereo pair, but the
disparity is at most 2cm, so it wouldn't get you much.
