I dimly recall experimenting with gcov in rosbuild (which presumably
you're using, given that you're on Fuerte). But, looking at the docs,
it seems that there isn't any built-in support.

The first that I would do is build verbose (`make VERBOSE=1`) and
verify that the required coverage flags are being passed during both
the compile and link steps.
