Hi Ahmed,

Thanks for the interest - questions are very welcome.

The hardware is ideal for robotics, drones, and other applications involving real-time control, machine vision/image processing, SLAM, etc. Given ROS’s open source initiative, expansive code base, developer community, and growing application acceptance, we wanted to make sure people can to quickly and easily take advantage of our hardware’s capabilities by leveraging existing software infrastructures.

We’re also taking with a few folks involved with ArduPilot (open source drone autopilot) about integrating with that system as well. Support for other open source OSs and projects like Android and OpenCV are also in the works… If anyone would like to see other software platforms supported, we’re definitely interested in hearing about them!

We're developing an advanced (and low-cost) robot control platform and looking for folks interested in trying out some Alpha hardware and helping us get ROS, et al. ported to the hardware. We’d also love to get some feedback on the design/concept and ways to improve it further.

If you're interested in diving in and working with some high-end ARM and FPGA components, check us out/let me know and I can provide more details. We’re launching on Kickstarter later this year so be sure to sign up for our mailing list!
