For smaller packages like rosdep Travis is definitely an option that's already in use. You've found the Travis CI history for the old repository location. It was moved to
https://github.com/ros-infrastructure/rosdep
So you can see the current status is here:

It looks like you've already found it, but for others reference there's now a [PR under review}
https://github.com/ros-infrastructure/rosdep/pull/591) for rosdep testing on macOS.
