The baud rate shouldn't make a difference.  But the angular resolution
might.  That device naturally samples in 1-degree increments.  To get
higher resolution, it takes multiple scans, offset from each other,
and interlaces them.  Perhaps the driver is doing something wrong with
interlaced scans.
