[ros-users] Range values in 2D

Hi,

I would like to ask if anybody can give me some hints in order for me to perform a  clustering algorithm on points in 2D. For the time being, I only have them in a form of range values. Should I convert it into cartesian coordinate values first, then only I can apply the algorithm? By the way, what I currently think of the clustering algorithm to apply is JDC (Jump distance Clustering). Any there any interesting nodes already developed for the sake of doing clustering points in 2D?
