Questions like this should be asked on http://answers.ros.org/ so that the answers are easy for other people to find.

This sounds like a network problem; probably that the hostname of one of your machines doesn't resolve properly. Try setting ROS_HOSTNAME on both machines to the machine's IP address. For a longer-term solution, get your network/sysadmin to fix DNS or your computers so that your hostnames resolve properly.
