The ROS devs use xml-rpc to communicate with the master. you would
have to look at the internals of roscpp and rospy to see what the
exact format is (i don't believe it is documented anywhere). Because
matlab has a socket library, doing a rosmat in pure matlab (without
any mex compilations) could be possible.
