One thing you could do to get an idea of what companies are contributing to ROS would be to look at all the known packages and see which have author or maintainer emails that are from companies. I was curious as well so i just hacked up a quick script so I could visualize who maintains what. The script can be found [here](https://gist.github.com/TheDash/a3d394cccbe921ce9a06977ef3acc28d) (and you can change it for each distribution if you'd like by modifying the 'site' variable in the file)
